Services to the film industry

Scriptum has a long track record of working with the film industry. Over the years the company has provided specialist translation services to majors and independent producers and distributors including Columbia Pictures, Walt Disney, Sacher Film and BiBi Film.

Scriptum’s translation expertise has been particularly appreciated during the initial and final phases of film production and distribution:

  • Project development (translation of pitches, plot summaries, treatments and screenplays)
  • Sales and distribution (press books and other promotional material).

Project Development

Scriptum’s film translation services are used during film development and pre-production to distribute pitches, summaries and treatments to potential producers during fundraising, and to send out screenplays and dialogue lists to actors who don’t speak the language in which the original screenplay was written.
We always use professional translators with film and entertainment industry experience to ensure that the finished product is of a high standard and complies with the rules of screenwriting.

Sales and Distribution

After the production phase, Scriptum works with film distribution companies to translate print-ready promotional materials. We have a great deal of experience in translating and adapting press books for the Italian market, a challenging yet vital job that is vital to ensure the media dedicates sufficient attention to reviewing a given film.
We also work with distribution companies at press conferences attended by non-Italian directors and actors, providing specialist interpreters to help during presentations and Q&A sessions.
