Specialist Translation

Our in-house translators and network of freelance translators work exclusively into their mother tongues. Specializing in publishing-oriented and arts-based work, we translate into and out of major European and non-European languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and beyond).

Multi-language editing

After the translation phase, a Scriptum editor ensures that the final output is stylistically homogeneous. On request, our multi-language editors can review translations not produced by the Scriptum team.

DTP

We use industry-standard DTP software (Quark XPress and InDesign) to insert translations into the original language layout, adapting translations to available space via cutting, editing and summarizing.

Proofreading

At customers’ requests, we can proofread materials we have translated, reviewed and laid out, and produce print-ready files.

Editorial Project Management

We are used to working to extremely tight deadlines across multiple languages, and draw on a network of hand-picked professionals with whom we have developed long-term working relationships. With twenty years’ experience in overseeing major publishing projects, Scriptum’s in-house team is capable of effectively managing translators, editors, layout professionals and proofreaders to respect the most challenging deadlines.

Writing

Scriptum draws on a network of art historians and arts and culture experts to write articles, fact sheets and other Italian-language written material.
